About the Role
As a Student Welfare Advisor, you’ll be the go-to person for students needing advice, guidance, and support on personal and welfare-related issues, including disability support. You’ll also work closely with faculty and business support teams to ensure students can overcome barriers to learning and succeed in their studies.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You’ll provide one-to-one support, run workshops, offer accommodation and financial advice, and signpost students to specialist services when needed. You’ll also play a key role in safeguarding and wellbeing initiatives.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Delivering welfare services through appointments, workshops, and events
- Advising on accommodation, funding, health, and learning support
- Acting as part of the safeguarding team, assessing risks and making referrals
- Signposting students to external agencies for specialist support
- Providing emergency assistance for students in immediate distress
What We’re Looking For
- A calm, reassuring presence with excellent communication skills
- Experience supporting individuals with welfare or wellbeing needs
- Knowledge of safeguarding, mental health, and inclusion practices
- Ability to guide colleagues on sensitive student issues
- Ideally, experience in Higher Education (but not essential)
Knowledge of child protection, adult at risk, Prevent legislation, housing, and benefits would be a bonus.
